We love making our tours memorable. We love it even more when we hear it from our guests.
We love our guests and sometimes it’s best to hear it firsthand. Don’t take our word for it. Hear it straight from the people who’ve been there, experienced it, and came back with memories that last a lifetime.
We take care of most things, but you might still have questions. Here are some answers for you as you pick the right tour for you and your group.
Layered clothing is the key to comfort in Alaska’s ever-changing weather, regardless of season.
Summer: A weather/water-resistant outer layer is recommended along with sturdy, closed-toe footwear like sneakers or hiking boots. (Absolutely no sandals or heels permitted).
Winter: Warm winter overcoat, snow pants, snow boots, warm hat, and gloves.
Additional items: Sunglasses, a water bottle, and a camera.
The seating arrangement and the type of helicopter(s) you fly in will be determined on the day of your tour based on the safest weight and balance for everyone on the tour. Some groups may be split between multiple helicopters but will always land at the same spot to enjoy the tour together.
Front seat placement is determined by weight and balance requirements and assigned by your pilot on the day of your tour.
Each year we offer exciting specials and promos that only Alaska Helicopter Tours can provide. Contact us to learn more.
We can absolutely accommodate any group size. The group may not be flying in the same helicopter but will land at the tour location to enjoy the tour together as a group. Larger groups may have limited landing site options due to space required for multiple helicopters. Groups over 12 people will need to contact us directly if they would like to fly at the same time.
Unfortunately we do have bad weather days and there is no way to predict ahead of time (beyond a few days) what the weather is going to be. While we can fly in a wide range of Alaska weather, conditions such as high winds, fog, low clouds, or icing may cause delays or cancellations.
We do have weather-cams pointed towards most of our landing spots so we can see what the weather is like up there. We also check the forecast and the radar continuously to make sure we only fly when the conditions are safe. You can improve your chances of a great trip by being flexible.
If we have to cancel a flight because of weather or safety concerns, we will gladly reschedule you to another day/time. If your schedule does not allow that we will refund 100% of your trip.
The biggest difference is that our Seward tours are only available in the summer, while our Anchorage/Palmer tours have year-round options. But you’ll see glaciers at both locations. Seward offers access to the Kenai National Park and Anchorage/Palmer is closer to Knik Glacier. Both offer stunning views, experiences and incredible tour options.
