Glacier Date: Keep the romance alive!

We were part of a fun tour called "Glacier Date" for Valentine's Day and it was a huge success. It was a partnership between Donna Marie Photography, our helicopter adventure tour partner Alaska Sundog Guiding, and Alaska Helicopter Tours. It was a fun idea, combining our Glacier Landing tour and professional photoshoot and private guiding through glacier formations. It was a sold-out event, that we're hoping to bring back sometime. Donna wrote down her experience with three fun couples for Glacier Date.

Encouraging couples to continue dating in their relationship has always been something near and dear to my heart. Whether you're dating, engaged, newlyweds or married 30 years+, dating and pursuing your partner will always be important in your relationship. From something as simple as planning a nice meal at home and spending intentional time together, or flying out to a glacier, whatever the date is, go for it! Ever since solely focusing my photography on couples, I’ve not only been so passionate about couples and their love stories in photos but also investing in the long-term success of their relationship and encouraging them however I can. I started offering Date Giveaways, including Date activities into regular couples sessions and now, Date Sessions & Events!

Glacier Date Session was born!

I reached out to Kate at Alaska Sundog Guiding at the very beginning of February and told her about previous Date Session photoshoots I'd offered and expressed to her that I thought it would be so fun to create a Date Photoshoot/Glacier Exploring event and that it would be amazing to collaborate with other local vendors on. Immediately we put our heads together and the Glacier Date Session was born. We were trying to advertise it for Valentine’s Day(just 2 short weeks away, eek!) and it was a smashing hit and sold out! We offered limited spots and had three awesome couples come out to Knik Glacier with Alaska Helicopter Tours to enjoy a glacier cave tour, charcuterie, Champagne and each others company. I was along to photograph the fun and got some sweet photos and memories that they can look back on and remember. Snowflakes consistently fell through the afternoon creating the perfect atmosphere and winter wonderland and I’m still swooning over all of the photos that were possible! It was a day for the books and I’m just floored at how much fun it was, how easy it was, and how awesome the couples we worked with are! Super thankful for couples that love some adventure and are down for spontaneity.

We hope to bring it back

Hoping to be able to offer other Glacier Date events similar to this in the future with Alaska Sundog Guiding and Alaska Helicopter Tours! Not only is getting out and exploring this gorgeous state with Alaska Helicopter Tours a blast in general, but also being able to photograph these couples (who are trusting me with a piece of their love story and this once-in-a-lifetime experience) is an honor! It makes my heart want to burst knowing that years down the road they have these once-in-a-lifetime photographs and memories to look back on and remember this spontaneous and adventurous date they got to experience together!
